A secured, private connection with your baby
While hearing your baby is important, we understand that you want to be the only one listening. DECT digital technology provides a secured, private connection by automatically choosing an unused channel. Plus, it switches channels in the event it detects another device.
Five lullabies
To calm and soothe your baby, Philips AVENT DECT SCD499 Baby Monitor comes with five lullabies. A complete care to mollify your baby.
Belt clip and neck cord
The belt clip and neck cord provide hands-free convenience and mobility. Just clip the parent unit to your belt or wear it around your neck. It allows you to freely roam around the house due to the small size, but still hear when your baby needs you.

Travel pouch
Philips AVENT know what exactly your want. To make your travel easy a travel pouch comes with Philips AVENT DECT SCD499 Baby Monitor. Travel pouch protects units while traveling and make your life easy.
Digital signal confirmation
Indicates a continuous connection between the baby and the parent unit with visible and audible link indicators.
Room temperature thermometer
Remotely monitor the baby’s room temperature for extra comfort and control.
Great - but far too quiet (or perhaps faulty?)![]()
I would have given this monitor 5 stars, because it does everything it says it will do - and very well, too. No interference, lullaby feature definitely helps my child to sleep, and nightlight soothing. But the volume on the parent unit is far, far too quiet. In fact, i’m wondering if it is functioning correctly. Even speaking in a loud whisper isn’t picked up. Only if our baby shrieks can we be confident that we will hear it - which is not good enough. Volume is set to its highest and so in microphone sensitivity. I would be interested in knowing if other users have had this problem - if so, is there any solution?
Great - but the sound kicks in too late.![]()
We have the previous ‘orange’ model of this monitor (before Avent paired up with Philips to make this model), and it has been absolutely fantastic for our 1st child. So we bought this new ‘blue’ Avent/Philips model for our 2nd child, thinking it would be identical. However, rather than provide a continuous link to the baby’s room, it only kicks in when a sound is made. This means that you can miss the first part of the noise. Hardly reassuring. In fact, we have heard our child cough from the room below, and the monitor has not picked it up, and has only kicked in AFTER the cough. We took the monitor back, thinking it was faulty, and had a replacement, but the 2nd one is doing exactly the same. I presume that this is an energy saving feature, but I will be taking it back and buying a different make. Such a shame as the first generation of this monitor is absolutely faultless.
